The Arizona Secretary of State’s Office Initiative Verification Clerk provides community members who are interested in public service the opportunity to spend 7 weeks (June 17 to August 2, 2024) working with the Elections Division.
The Elections Division is looking for community members who want to learn about election administration and support the initiative review process leading up to the 2024 election.
As a Verification Clerk with the Elections Division, you will observe how state government functions and attend training related to election administration. You will learn how to research state statutes and the requirements of Arizona’s initiative process. You will contribute to the team by reviewing initiative petition sheets and identifying whether signatures comply with statutory requirements.
Students or recent graduates interested in public service and witnessing democracy in action are encouraged to apply.

• Ability to remain objective and non-partisan while serving as an intern under the Secretary of State
• Must possess a valid AZ driver's license or state picture ID.
• Must be able to participate from June 17, 2024, to August 2, 2024.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Clerks will be paid $20.00 per hour over the course of 7 weeks (up to 40 hours per week). No other benefits will be provided.
