Candidates who are successfully employed as Case Aide for four (4) years will be eligible to apply for a promotional opportunity to a DCS Specialist Trainee Position.
An Assistant Case Manager (Case Aide) at the Maricopa Welcome Center works in collaboration with the Emergency Placement Coordination team. A day in the life of a DCS Assistant Case Manager (Case Aide) can look like:
• Monitoring the Placement Coordination team’s inbox, phone, and Guardian Dashboard to ensure all requests and related communication are organized, assigned to a coordinator, and/ or redirected to the appropriate person or place.
• Facilitating in communication between the Placement Coordination and Welcome Center teams, which includes but is not limited to monitoring and submitting timely responses to all Statewide Placement Administration Teams chats on behalf of the Placement Coordination team.
• Utilizing Guardian and the Caregiver Assessment Tool (CAT) to build in and prepare active service requests for the Placement Coordination team.
• Reviewing all Welcome Center Power App entries and transferring any/ all relevant updates to the CAT.
• Reviewing and preparing finalized CAT entries to be elevated to the Service Authorization unit for payment processing.
• Communicating with and collecting data from all active licensed providers.
• Submitting daily reports to management and the field.
• Participates in professional meetings and delivers goods as requested.
Knowledge of:
• Current state, federal and district laws and policies regarding child welfare services
• Resources available in the community that may be utilized on behalf of clients
• Policies, procedures and practices of court Foster Care Review Board with regards to cases involving custody and placement of children
• Developmental and behavioral problems of children
• Cultural environment and community influences on the behavior and development of individuals
• Computers and software (Microsoft Office Suite), mobile devices, digital calendars (Outlook) & video conferencing (Microsoft Teams)
Skill in:
• Eliciting and gathering information
• General clerical functions such as, data entry and filling
• De-escalating situations
• Verbal and written communication
• Time management and multi-tasking
Ability to:
• Organize data in a logical and coherent manner
• Prepare written reports in a prescribed format

The selective candidate will have two years of college or university training with a minimum of 21 semester hours in child development, rehabilitation, social services, counselling, psychology, sociology or other closely related field.
• High school diploma or GED
• Valid AZ driver’s license.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Department of Public Safety Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card.
Selected candidates must be able to pass a background investigation and DCS Central Registry check.
This position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job to conduct State business, and the following requirements apply: Driver’s License Requirements.

Bi-Lingual Stipend
In an effort to better serve our communities, DCS offers a Bi-Lingual Stipend to all interested and eligible DCS Employees who successfully complete a language proficiency exam. Qualifying employees will receive a $500 annual stipend paid in equal increments.

Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS).
