Responsible for performing a variety of accounting and budgeting functions and/or transactions including cycle of accounts payable/accounts receivable activities including auditing and verifying accuracy.
The Accountant will prepare and process fiscal transactions, review and reconcile billing records and accounts, analyze financial information and prepare financial reports to determine or maintain record of assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liability, or other financial activities within an organization.
This position also performs general administrative duties including filing and serving as backup for the mail distribution.
• Generate various accounting reports including credit card data and Neopost balance reports. Enter and process various payments into multiple systems including ORBS, jBilling, and AFIS. Perform Procurement functions including receiving items in APP. Tagging and Adding ASET numbers to fixed asset items including logging serial numbers. Managing Annual Physical inventory listing. Work with the Administrative Assistant in maintaining supply inventory listing
• Makes entries and revisions to agency accounts, ledgers, and financial records. Reviewing and verification of payments received for credit card and fingerprinting transactions. Scanning and uploading supporting documentation in to AFIS including Transfers and GAX’s. Research and Reconcile credit card transactions weekly in the payment gateway system. Process manual checks. Process and verifying refunds issued as well as reconciling refund transactions. Examines and verifies such fiscal transactions as billing invoices, payments, or other financial documents
• Applies the principles, theories, and concepts of accounting to a specific system. Performs defined accounting tasks such as examining a variety of financial statements for completeness, accuracy, and conformance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or other specific accounting requirements; reconciles reports and financial data, and identifies apparent inconsistencies or errors
• Use automated accounting systems and applications to retrieve and review data files, analyze information, track revenues and/or expenditures, and analyze contracts status. Survey operations to ascertain accounting needs and to recommend, develop, or maintain solutions to business and financial problems
• Serve as mail room backup. Process incoming mail by sorting mail received, organize and distribute. Process outgoing mail by preparing packages and mail and ensuring the mail has the right amount of postage. Keep track of mail and postage inventory and supplies. Order new supplies when necessary. Process fingerprint cards. Responsible for receiving, tracking and distributing supplies and copier related duties.
Skills:
• Considerable skill in analysis, interpretation and communication of financial data
• Computer and Desktop applications such has word and excel
• Proficient with 10 key typing and data entry skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Math computation and research skills
Ability:
• Understand, interpret and apply the fundamental principles of accounting and general fiscal and financial record keeping practices in the performance of assigned tasks
• Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
• Maintain ledgers and journals
• Analyze fiscal data
• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting preferred
• Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver license record checks, required to maintain acceptable driving records and complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.11)
• Requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver license appropriate to the assignment
