The position will work under the general supervision of the Controller and be responsible for work of considerable difficulty in a variety of high level functions having complex and extensive business operations, planning, organizing and direction for several major Authority programs, including the implementing accounting and budget processes for new programs, directives and policies affecting the Authority as a whole.
This position will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timing completion of accounting and budgeting transactions through the management of staff and processes. This includes:
- Review and reconciliation of accounting transactions
- Managing accounts payable and account receivable transactions
- Grant accounting and compliance for large federal programs
- Supervise accounting staff and functions
- Assist in the preparation of various financial statements and accounting reports
- Preparation and execution of WIFA's budget for leadership
- Assist the Controller with their duties
This position is available for remote work on a full-time basis within Arizona (including virtual office arrangements).

This position may be available for remote work within Arizona (# days per week in the office/hoteling).

This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Record, reconcile and update financial information in at least 4 unique databases
- Reconcile loan information system with paper files and AZ360 data information and make any necessary correcting entries.
- Reconcile Federal accounting information with the a loan information and the grant files and make any correcting entries.
- Reconcile current data in all systems on a monthly basis
Assist the Controller, as needed, in their duties
- This includes daily activities such as the review and release of documents in AZ360-FIN, ASAP or AZ360-HRM; weekly loan information reporting; bi-weekly payroll input and reporting; and annual requirements such as the Annual Budget Submission and Annual Audits.
Supervise and train subordinate staff
Compiling program information necessary for the Annual Budget Submission and ensure accuracy in calculations. This includes inputing the budget into the system and working with management in gathering required information. The position is responsible for providing monthly updates in budget execution and communicating any discrepancies to the Controller.
Works with external auditors on answering accounting questions related to grants and provides reports as necessary to support audits. This includes monitoring grant expenditures and notifying the Controller of any discrepancies and possible accounting corrections.
Provides accounting and budgeting expertise on existing and future processes to management.
Monitors accounting transactions and informs controllers of any potential issues as it relates to organization controls.

Required Education, Licensure, Certification
College degree in accounting, business administration, public administration or related field.
Preferred Education, Licensure, Certification
- Certification by NIGP, NAPM or a similar professional organization
- Certification as a CPPO, CPPB or C.P.M. from a professional organization
- A CPA or Masters degree is preferred.
