ACCOUNTING MANAGER

Salary: $85,000 - $90,000

Job Summary:

This position coordinates and oversees the financial and fiscal operations of the Office of Tourism.

This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Job Duties:

• Responsible for accuracy of monthly financial report through oversight and reconciliation of monthly budget report created through AZ360

• Distribute to appropriate cost centers and meet regularly with all budget managers to address concerns

• Responsible for agency's financial, fiscal, budgeting processes and all necessary record keeping

• Responsible for the accuracy and prompt processing of all agency travel claim

• Manage all agency accounting functions, and supervise accounting staff

• Provide regular training to staff to ensure SAAM compliance

• Agency lead for staff travel policy and procedures

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge:

• Comprehensive knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP), Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) principles and the Arizona Financial Information System

• The principles concepts, practices, methods and techniques of government accounting

Skills:

• Interpreting and applying policies, procedures and standards to specific situations, strong oral and written communication skills

• Techniques required to maintain accounting records through automated accounting systems

• Analysis interpretation and communication of financial data

Ability:

• To use initiative and judgment to make sound decisions and meet performance standards

• Analyze data and information using established criteria in order to determine outcomes

• Work and communicate effectively with all levels of the agency

Selective Preference(s):

• CPA

Pre-Employment Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or closely related field required

• One year of accounting supervisory experience
