The Division of Business and Finance (DBF) is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team as an Accounting Specialist 2. This position will be responsible for processing provider electronic funds transfer applications from submittal to approval or rejection. Reviewing applications for accuracy, completeness, and free from error needed to expedite provider payments. Assisting providers with EFT application inquiries via telephone and/or email and archiving historical applications in accordance with Office filing standards.


This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Review submitted electronic funds transfer (EFT) applications from providers via either facsimile or directly from the EFT database for accuracy, completeness, and free from error that may cause delays in provider payments. For those received via facsimile, enter and review provider financial institution information into the Arizona Financial Information System (AFIS
• Perform external verification of submitted financial institution information on a provider's EFT application and document said verification. If an electronic payment is returned, contact and work with provider to update their financial institution information.
• Act as secondary reviewer, ensuring propriety, accuracy, and completeness for processed EFT applications of other accounting staff and reject those that do not meet criteria
• Provide assistance to providers via phone and/or email relating to EFT enrollment. Communicate rejection statuses and applicable remedy to providers for EFT applications.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:
• The State Archive policy and procedures to effectively archive and maintain agency records
• Mainframe, PMMIS, AFIS, InfoAdvantage, Cognos, and Data Warehouse in order to research provider payments and large volume of data downloads
• Comprehensive knowledge of reconciliation processes
• Microsoft Office applications including, Excel, Word, and Access database. Google Suite

Skill in:
• Analysis and interpretation of financial data and accounting systems
• Oral and written communication
• Organizational skills
• Accurate and quick data entry skills
• Preparing and updating Microsoft Excel spreadsheets

Ability to:
• Resolve problems and questions from management, peers, and subordinate staff regarding work processes, policies, and organization or methods of financial data compilation and reporting
• Work effectively and efficiently in a high- paced, continuously changing environment with frequent interruptions
• Independently analyze and research problems to determine the nature and provide resolutions
• Perform multiple tasks and meet established timelines as well as coordinate various assignments and establish priorities
• Provide quality customer service

Qualifications:

Minimum:
• High School Diploma or G.E.D.

Preferred:
• One-year professional level accounting experience. Experience with AHCCCS rules, policies and procedures, AHCCCS PMMIS mainframe systems, Oracle, ERATS, Windows Excel and Word, personal computer systems, Bank of America Cash Pro, and AFIS accounting system.
• Associate degree or bachelor's degree in accounting or Bookkeeping is a plus.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

• Successfully pass fingerprint background check, prior employment verifications and reference checks; employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.
• Travel may be required for State business. Employees who drive on state business must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.)
