The Accounting Specialist 2 works with the Agency Chief Financial Officer (CFO) as the front-line individual for accounts receivable. This position is responsible for purchasing, payroll and general accounting office functions.
This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

• Works with accounting staff and other departments to process billing for services, preparing and sending invoices, processing receipts and preparing daily deposits; and examines and verifies fiscal transactions such as billing invoices, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll or other financial documents.
• Works with vendors to ensure timely payments.
• Investigates problems with obtaining payment for bills.
• Journal and ledger entries. Entering information into Procure AZ and Quick Books.
• Assist with biweekly payroll.
• Assist accounting office in the box office.
• Data entry and filing paperwork; running reports; creating and maintaining spreadsheets.
Knowledge of:
• Good mathematical background;
• Arizona Financial Information System (AFIS) and Arizona Procure AZ;
• Principles, methods and practices of fiscal and financial record keeping, including automated accounts payable/receivable and payroll systems;
• Procedures, methods and office equipment used in statistical record keeping;
• Strong computer skills to include Google Suites and Microsoft Office Suites;
• 10 Key calculator for a variety of accounting functions;
• General office procedures, related laws and ordinances.
Skills in:
• Spreadsheets and automated accounting systems;
• Cash handling experience with sorting, counting and verifying numbers;
• Understanding, interpreting, and applying the fundamental principles of accounting an general fiscal and financial record keeping practices in the performance of assigned tasks;
• Maintaining ledgers and journals;
• Analyzing fiscal data.
Ability to:
• Be organized, resourceful, multi-task, and prioritize work efficiently;
• Demonstrate and use sound judgment and anticipate work needs;
• Follow through with minimum direction;
• Work independently and as part of a team;
• Communicate effectively both orally and in writing;
• Adapt to all situations and work varied hours, and possibly work weekends or evenings.
• College level accounting classes or accounting degree.
• Ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of hands on accounting experience or governmental accounting background.
• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Valid Driver's License.
