As an Accounting Specialist 2, under direction of an Accounts Payable Manager, this position will be responsible for work of medium difficulty providing support to customers related to agency payments. Activities of the Invoicing team includes, but not limited to, reviewing/submitting invoice payments, in our Arizona Procurement Portal (APP) as well as Arizona Financial Information System (AFIS), creating encumbrance documents and transfers within AFIS, vendor account management and research. This position is within the Invoicing team and will collaborate with the Purchasing team to direct and participate in invoice payments. This position is responsible for ensuring that the quality of the work products are acceptable and accurate; and ensuring that deadlines are met.
Currently, the Agency utilizes the Arizona Financial Information Systems (AFIS) for all budget and expenditure tracking. AFIS is the official accounting system and system of record for the State of Arizona's fiscal information. This position needs to be proficient in the Arizona Procurement Portal for oversight and entry of invoices in assigned area related to payments. This includes, but not limited to, reviewing purchase orders, researching/resolving issues and receipts as part of the three-way match process, review invoices, and prepare payment documents.
Knowledge of Accounting principles, concepts, practices methods and techniques of government accounting; internal control structures; Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); Arizona Revised Statutes related to program funding.
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or other related field
