Job Summary:
The Arizona State Retirement System is seeking a proactive professional with research and analysis skills along with complex calculation and reconciliation experience to assist with service purchase, service audit, incoming member and employer payments and outgoing Health Benefit and LTD payments on behalf ASRS vendors, 700+ employers and 500,000+ members.
Job Duties:
- Maintaining effective fiscal management by analyzing, interpreting and evaluating accounting and reporting systems, procedures, policies and methods
- Processing and reviewing work completed by associates as it relates to service purchase, contribution corrections, transfers and their payments. Additional responsibilities include processing and reviewing member maintenance, service audits, HI and LTD reconciliation, and billing and processing.
- Reconciling the service purchase cash received, posted to the ASRS pension administration system and entries in ASRS financial management system to ensure accuracy, completeness and proper crediting of payments.
- Initiating contact and responding to employers, vendors, and member communication through ASRS messaging, email, letters, and/or by telephone as they pertain to the duties listed above.
- Recognizing complex process anomalies and utilizing logical problem solving skills to resolve.
- Ensuring compliance with applicable federal and state legislation, and ASRS policies and procedures.
- Managing productive working relationships with all other ASRS divisions.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):
- Strong internal and external customer service skills
- Effectively explain complex policies and procedures in person, in writing, or over the phone
- Grasp, interpret, and apply laws, regulations, and policies accurately and quickly
- Perform complex mathematical calculations including reconciliation of reports
- Determine completeness and accuracy of reports
- Identify and recommend changes and improvements to work methods
- Take appropriate corrective action to resolve problems
- Ability to meet deadlines with accuracy
- Work effectively independently and in a team environment and meet team objectives
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and judgment
- Work in a high volume, fast paced environment
- Prefer experience in one or more of the following related fields:
- Service purchase, service audits, retirement benefits, account maintenance, calculations, reconciliations, long-term disability, and/or health insurance programs.
- Prefer Bachelor’s degree (Bachelor’s degree may substitute for years of experience)
