POSITION SUMMARY:
The Certification & Licensing Division is responsible for protecting the public by assuring only qualified applicants become certified to engage in certain regulated professions and further assuring that, once certified, the professionals comply with regulatory standards. The Division is seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Senior Investigation Specialist. This position manages complex investigations of applicants for admission to the practice of law in Arizona and related projects, including assessment and recommendation of applicants, automation tools, vendor and stakeholder relationships, contracting, policy and procedure, and training.
This position also serves as staff and policy advisor to the Committee on Character and Fitness. An Investigation Specialist gathers, monitors, and analyzes background information on applicants, using critical analytical and independent research and interviewing skills to determine whether additional information is needed. The Investigation Specialist will make recommendations regarding admissions and may testify at hearings.
In addition, this position directs work of administrative support and admissions team members, provides leadership and feedback on projects and programs, and manages specialist projects and studies.
This position may be eligible for a hybrid-telework schedule once the employee has completed three (3) months of employment and has sufficiently proved their ability to perform assigned tasks.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
The successful candidate will hold a bachelor's degree in public administration, justice studies, or a related field and five years related experience. Relevant experience may substitute for the educational requirements. In addition, the successful candidate will have demonstrated ability to consistently exercise independent initiative and judgment on complex issues, work with minimal supervision, and maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the job. This position requires demonstrated expertise in analyzing and researching subject matter of significant difficulty, preparation and maintenance of complex reports and records, and the ability to develop and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with Committee members, colleagues, professionals, public officials, applicants, and other stakeholders. The candidate will have demonstrated expertise in case management, organization, and maintenance of complex paper and electronic records.
