Job Summary:

The Department of Economic Security, Division of Benefits and Medical Eligibility, specifically the Disability Determinations Services Administration (DDSA) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Administrative Assistant 1. This is not a Virtual Position.

Job Duties:

On a daily basis you will:
- Conduct case development activities which requires analysis and judgment
- Schedule consultative examinations (CE) including pre and post follow-up phone calls and development assembly
- Train and/or mentor new or less experienced support staff
- Work with the Office of Disability Adjudicative Review (ODAR) within the Social Security Administration to schedule and order CE's requested by various Administrative Law Judges
- Respond to inquiries from claimants, vendors and other sources regarding status of claim or for transportation
- Contacts claimants, doctors, hospitals and other sources as needed
- In the absence of supervisor, oversees the unit and ensures daily assignments are disseminated and completed.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

- Knowledge in the principles, policies and procedures of the DDS administration and management to make decisions related to specific assignments or projects
- Knowledge in basic knowledge of computers and programs
- Knowledge in fundamental administrative support activities
- Knowledge in performance and productivity standards
- Knowledge in unit-specific technical problems sufficient to direct activities toward problem resolution
- Knowledge in the immediate unit sufficient to coordinate work activities with other sections of the agency
- Skill in developing, coordinating and providing technical assistance to staff
- Skill in developing, facilitating and coordinating the work of staff
- Skill in utilizing verbal and written communications
- Skill in resolving technical problems
- Ability to learn administrative and managerial skills.
- Ability to analyze and resolve routine problems
- Ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal relationships
- Ability to use automated systems to enter and retrieve information
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities
- Ability to multi-task
- Ability to analyze and resolve routine problems

Selective Preference(s):

At least one-year of clerical experience.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

- Travel will be required for State business. Employees who drive on state business must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.) AND have an acceptable driving record in accordance with DES Fleet Management-Safety Program policy and procedures (DES 1-07-26 & DES 1-07-26-01). Employees may be required to use their own transportation as well as maintaining valid motor vehicle insurance and current Arizona vehicle registration; however, mileage will be reimbursed

- Please be advised that all hires, transfers, and current employees within DBME Disability Determination Service Administration are subject to mandatory fingerprinting and an associated FBI background investigation by the Social Security Administration under Homeland Security Presidential Directive-12.
