The Arizona Department of Agriculture is recruiting for a detailed orientated and dependable Administrative Assistant II for our Animal Services Division. The position is located in downtown Phoenix around the Capital Mall and requires the employee to work in the office.
The Administrative Assistant IIs (AA II) will provide administrative support to our Animal Services Division. The Animal Services Division protects and improves the health, quality, and marketability of Arizona animals and animal products by identifying, diagnosing, and preventing existing and emerging diseases, protecting humans from contagious diseases, and responding to emergencies. Enforces laws concerning the movement, sale, importation, transportation and processing of livestock. Conducts food quality and safety inspections of milk and meat products produced and processed in Arizona, as well as egg and egg products produced in, or imported to, Arizona.
Duties to include but not limited to:
• Collect, balance and record all revenue associated with them, data input of week ending reports for livestock Animal Health Officers and forwarding it weekly to appropriate individuals and/or departments; must be familiar with current Arizona laws regarding the self-inspection program and livestock importation requirements
• Issue entry permit numbers for incoming or the movement of livestock via email or phone
• issues premise/Scrapie and nation identifications
• Maintain all databases pertaining to the State Veterinarians Office (SVO), record management for all licensed feedlots, garbage feeders, and aquaculture establishments; records management of information covering animal diseases, public health, and regulatory animal disease control.
• Issue and track Certificates of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) books to accredited and licensed veterinarians in the State of Arizona for moving livestock and small animals.
• Performs tasks related to the livestock self-inspection program, including answering customer inquiries received via phone, in person or through applications and correspondence. Collecting, maintaining and updating self-inspection applications for cattle, sheep & goats, dairies, feedlots and seasonal passes; issuing and recording self-inspection certificates, books, back tags and glue and packaging and mailing them; data input of submitted self-inspection forms and Form 1 certificates.
• Other duties as assigned.

Livestock Experience
Two (2) plus years as an Administrative Assistant

Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS). Mandatory condition of Employment for all employees who meet the eligibility and membership criteria defined in statue. Current contribution rate is 12.00%. Enrollment eligibility will become effective after 27 weeks of employment.
