Job Summary:

This role plays a critical part in preparing individuals for successful reentry into the community. Prior to release from incarceration, inmates submit proposed residential placements that are thoroughly reviewed and processed. The position manages and evaluates release packets submitted by correctional facilities and coordinates their assignment to Community Reentry Officers for investigation.
Before any release occurs, this role ensures all required release authorization documentation is accurately completed and approved no individual may transition to community supervision without this step. The position handles a high volume of work, processing approximately 14,000 release packets and 13,900 release authorizations annually for detainers and community supervision.

Job Duties:

-Review all incoming release packets to verify statutory release eligibility, procedural release eligibility, sex offense history, gang affiliation, and detainers lodged by other law enforcement agencies.

-Process all release authorizations, determining and verifying both statutory release eligibility dates and procedural release eligibility criteria and verifying the completion of the review for sex offender registration and notification requirements and the sexually violent persons civil commitment process.

-Assign all release packets by zip code areas or specialized caseloads to the statewide parole offices and annotate computer systems. Daily mail distribution via FedEx, preparation of Absconder Reduction Program Letters and locating Arizona Department of Economic Security Family Assistance Administration mail to Parole Officers for direct delivery to parolees.

-Respond to inquiries on release procedures and eligibility from department staff and the public. Annotates the release authorizations on the computer system to include entries which designate ineligibility per Department's discretionary release authority, and process the release authorizations to the prisons.

- Process all Cost of Supervision Fees which are Interstate Compact, End of Month Cost of Supervision status reports, process Global Positioning System money orders from parolees and credits to the Drug Transition Program that have accruals while on the program.

Selective Preference(s):

-Two (2) years of experience with Excel or Google Sheets developing formulas, conditional formatting, and data validation.

Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).

Retirement:

Positions in this classification participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS). Enrollment eligibility will become effective after 27 weeks of employment.
