Job Summary:

This position is responsible for the day to day operation of the museum, managing the front desk admissions. The position will manage the museum purchasing, daily accounting, and gift shop operations under the direction of a supervisor. They are responsible for generating purchase orders, financial reporting, obtaining competitive bids and administering contracts. Strong customer service skills are required. This position will interact with the public on a daily basis.

Job Duties:
  • Greet and take admissions from museum visitors, provide information and direction.
  • Answer phones.
  • Oversee gift ship, identify new merchandise for resale, prepare purchase requisitions, order, receive and track inventory,
  • Stock shelves and arrange merchandise.
  • Work with other AHS Museums to coordinate common merchandise for on line sales.
  • Prepare daily/weekly/monthly sales reports and cash reconciliation and submit to appropriate staff.
  • Assist staff as directed with projects; such as printing an mailing promotional materials, preparing and posting meeting agendas and ordering supplies and equipment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

  • Basic clerical functions, use of phones, computers and printing/copier equipment.
  • Office and telephone protocols and customer service.
  • Cash receipts, tracking, deposits and reporting.

Skill in:

  • Google and Word based office products. Proficient with Google Mail.
  • Communication; written and oral.
  • Bookkeeping to include detailed breakdown of sales and accounting.
  • Retail with inventory maintenance.

Ability to:

  • Greet museum visitors in a friendly professional manner.
  • Handle difficult customers.
  • Think independently to identify opportunities for improved effectiveness and efficiency
  • Accurately calculate and process cash/credit card transactions.
  • Learn point of sale computer system.
  • Multi-task.
Selective Preference(s):
  • Must be able to obtain State Liquor License
  • Must be able to obtain State of Arizona Driver's License
