This position will plan and direct activities, in partnership with schools, to cultivate a learning environment that allows students to establish and maintain a healthy relationship with food and activity . This position will collaborate and identify leadership opportunities with key stakeholders to advance mental health initiatives that intersect with food, nutrition, activity,
body image, and social media use in adolescence. Partner with Population Health Dietitian to administer the AZ School Surveillance Program including outreach and dissemination of YRBS and School Health Profile data outcomes to targeted audiences. This position will develop and conduct training, develop materials, and provide technical assistance to support weight-inclusive initiatives in schools and communities working with adolescent populations.

Job Duties:

- Plans, directs and implements programming for schools, education leaders, and public health partners to advance weight inclusive policies and practices in middle and high school settings.
- Develop written materials describing programs; develop and deliver oral presentations regarding programs; identify opportunities and establish relationships to collaborate with other local and state programs.
- Participate in staff meetings; confer with supervisors during one-on-one meetings.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:
- Principles, practices, and current trends in adolescent health.
- Knowledge of intuitive eating principles, Health at Every Size, and weight-inclusive and trauma-informed approaches.
- Techniques and theories in working with youth, especially positive youth development approaches.
- State and local government principles, practices, and rules regarding public health policy and strategies.
- Adult learning theories.
- Performance Management (PM), and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI), and Lean methodologies.

Skills in:
- Oral and written communication to communicate professionally, clearly, and concisely.
- Leadership skills including mentoring, teaching, decision making, problem-solving, listening, and handling emergency situations.
- Effective organizational practices including time management, analytical thought process, task completion, and priority setting.
- Technical and digital skills including data entry, word processing, typing, computer usage, applying computer techniques to access and process new and existing information, mathematics, and accountancy.
- General use of Microsoft Suites and Google Suites.

Ability to:
- Communicate effectively and maintain positive working relationships with Program team members, program contractors, Bureau and division staff, federal funding project officers, consultants, and other internal/external program partners.
- Identify problems and formulate effective solutions; research appropriate sources to obtain required information; analyze and interpret program data; critical thinking required.
- Interpret and apply program policies and procedures, prioritize and organize work assignments and responsibilities to provide efficient, timely quality outcomes despite a demanding workload.
- Represent the Bureau's and ADHS effectively and positively to others.
- Speak in front of large groups of people.

Selective Preference(s):

Bachelor's degree in public health or a related field and 3 years of professional experience related to health programs appropriate to the assignment. A Master's degree in public health may substitute for 2 years of experience.

RDN or RD credentialed through the Commission on Dietetic Registration.

Certification in Intuitive Eating.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Employees who drive on state business require possession of and the ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete any driver training (See Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.11).
