The Department of Economic Security, Division of Aging and Adult Services, seeks an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as an APS Case Aide with Adult Protective Services. DAAS supports at-risk Arizonans to meet their basic needs and to live safely, with dignity and independence. Services and programs reach a diverse population of Arizonans.
You will assist field investigation staff in supporting and providing needed services to our vulnerable and incapacitated adults, 18 years of age or older, alleged to be abused, neglected, or exploited. You will directly interact and help these individuals in a variety of ways. You will experience human nature at its best and worst. You provide comfort and resources to those who need help. You must also remain detached from very stressful situations.
• Assists with a variety of casework activities following verbal and written instructions.
• Documents, prepares, and enters clear and detailed documentation notes into database and maintains documentation and files.
• Makes trips delivering items and safely driving vulnerable and incapacitated adults, 18 years of age or older, when needed.
• Assists in making observations and gathers information about clients.
• Provides referrals for community resources and support services and makes emergency purchases for clients.
• Responds to inquiries from clients, vendors, etc.
• Prepares a wide variety of client documents.
• Performs general support activities when needed.

• Using computer software packages (e.g., Excel, Word, Google Suite, etc.) and accurately inputting information

• Learn basic social services, public program eligibility and assist the frail elderly and individuals with diminished mental capabilities
• Set priorities to plan and manage a varied workload
• Safely operate a motor vehicle
• Prefer 1 year of entry-level general office/administrative experience or working with or assisting individuals in a community setting, (e.g., community involvement with individuals in aging and adult, developmental disabilities, etc.).
• Flexibility in willingness to work longer shift hours or after-hours coverage, if necessary.
• Candidates for this position shall be subject to a search of both the Child Protective Services Central Registry pursuant to A.R.S. 8-804 and the Adult Protective Services Registry pursuant to A.R.S. 46-459.
• A.R.S. 41-1968 Employee shall have a valid, unrestricted Level One fingerprint clearance card issued pursuant to Arizona Revised Statute 41-1758.07 in order to work with children and vulnerable adults, prior to the start of their employment.
• In-state travel is required. The position will require the possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.11). Individuals may be required to use their personal motor vehicle.
• Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify), applicable to all newly hired State employees.
• Successfully pass background and reference checks; employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.
