As an entry-level investigator, you will learn to investigate allegations of abuse, neglect, and exploitation of vulnerable adults (those unable to defend themselves), 18 years of age or older. This is an ideal position for someone who is highly motivated, has problem solving and decision-making skills, enjoys working independently in the field, and can provide comfort and resources to those who need help. You will interact with adults and family members in their home or care facilities and coordinate with external partners that range from caregivers, medical personnel, police, public fiduciaries, the public, and others in the course of your investigations. • Performs professional entry-level case investigation for alleged victims in home or care facilities.
• Learns how to investigate, assess, evaluate, document, and provide referral of appropriate services for case investigations involving vulnerable and incapacitated adults, 18 years of age or older, alleged to be abused, neglected and/or exploited.
• Refers applicants and clients to appropriate community resources for health and safety.
• Writes narratives for case records and interpreting and applying program policies, procedures and objectives for clients and others.
• Customer service and interviewing techniques
• Sentence structure and composition to write clear, concise, and accurate notes and reports

• Using computer software packages (e.g., Excel, Word, Google Suite, etc.) and accurately inputting information
• Learn, comprehend, and apply federal and state statutes, APS regulations, policies and procedures and HIPAA
• Learn and recognize physical and behavioral indicators of neglect and abuse of adults with mental disabilities or seriously mentally ill and frail elderly
• Learn to use appropriate interventions for a variety of behavioral, developmental, and psychological symptoms
• Requires an Associate’s Degree; OR
• 1 year of experience as a Human Service Worker 2 or Customer Service Representative 1 (automated call center hotline) in AZ state government; OR
• 2 years para-professional general office/administrative experience; OR
• 1 year of experience providing professional case management/investigation services (Intake, Needs Assessment, Service Planning, and Monitoring and Evaluation); OR
• 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse, Assistant Nurse, CNA, EMT or LPN.
• Flexibility in willingness to work longer shift hours or after-hours coverage, if necessary.
• Candidates for this position shall be subject to a search of both the Child Protective Services Central Registry pursuant to A.R.S. 8-804 and the Adult Protective Services Registry pursuant to A.R.S. 46-459.
• A.R.S. 41-1968 Employee shall have a valid, unrestricted Level One fingerprint clearance card issued pursuant to Arizona Revised Statute 41-1758.07 in order to work with children and vulnerable adults, prior to the start of their employment.
• In-state travel is required. The position will require the possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.11). Individuals may be required to use their personal motor vehicle in rare situations.
• Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify), applicable to all newly hired State employees.

**Critical Services Premium Pay Stipend
This position may be eligible to receive a temporary stipend of 10% in addition to base pay beginning in December 2021. If eligible, the temporary stipend amount will be calculated using the employee's base rate of pay and will be reflected in each paycheck. It is anticipated that this temporary stipend will be available through June 24, 2022.
