The position serves as the MPD Aeronautics Group technical and administrative authority for airport planning. The position provides planning and administrative inspection, audit, review, and oversight of ADOT airport development grant projects. Assists the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in project inspections, audits, and reviews providing planning and administrative guidance to FAA for FAA funded airport development grants. Develops and distributes regular stakeholder communications and training to facilitate overall program compliance and instructs stakeholders in best practices. This position advises directors and assistant directors at ADOT regarding application for and possible implementation of the aviation state grant program.
This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Administer, monitor, review, and present Airport Planning Studies to peers, supervisors, municipalities, stakeholders, and the public.
Review and provide editorial comments regarding the Airport Capital Improvement Plan projects that are submitted by the airports to ensure safety, capacity, maintenance, and economic impact, which involves collaborating with the FAA staff to direct funds for airport development grants.
Assist with the management of the Airport Land Use and Wildlife Resolution to provide comprehensive frameworks for managing land use and wildlife hazards at airports. Utilize wildlife hazard assessments, land-use compatibility planning, and mitigation strategies to reduce risks to aviation.
Knowledge of:
- Planning administration practices and procedures.; government organization, public finance and economics.
- Federal, state, ADOT, and other relevant standards pertaining to airport construction and engineering, environmental protection, public relations, airport safety, vendor collaboration, vehicle operation, and fixed asset management.

- Running quality assurance processes for reconciling and managing large data sets.

Bachelor of Science in Urban Planning, Urban Management and Development, Aviation Management, or other relevant degree.
Two (2) years experience in aviation management or closely related field. Any combination of training and experience that meet the
knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) may be substituted.
This position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, and the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).
