The Arizona Attorney General's Office, Child and Family Protection Division/Child Support Services Section is seeking an Assistant Attorney General. This position is responsible for litigation on behalf of and representation for the Division of Child Support Services (DCSS) of the Department of Economic Security. Child Support Services attorney responsibilities include but are not limited to providing advice on IV-D child support laws and representing DCSS in paternity, establishment, modification, and enforcement cases at court. Child Support Services attorneys must comply with laws, rules, office policies and procedures applicable to the performance of the job and perform additional tasks as assigned by supervising personnel. This position requires regular travel within Arizona to provide court and office coverage as needed.
Draft and review various legal pleadings, motions, discovery, documents and correspondence necessary to litigate IV-D child support cases and meet all applicable time frames and deadlines. Prepare for and attend hearings/trials related to casework. Perform legal research. Provide counsel and advice to client on substantive issues related to IV-D cases. Other duties as assigned as related to the position.

Juris Doctorate Degree and admission to the State Bar of Arizona
• Travel is required for this position. A valid Arizona Driver’s License is required, along with consent to have your driving record run periodically.
• Admission to, and good standing with, the Arizona State Bar is required (include on resume the date(s) of admission in Arizona and any other states). Candidate must have an active Arizona State Bar license.
• Attorney applicants are required to submit a writing sample with their resume/application profile.
The writing sample should contain an analysis of some substantive legal issue and provide insight concerning your ability to think and to explain and advocate for a particular position.
