We are currently seeking an Auditor 3 to join the Education and Compliance Audit team. In this role you will be responsible for producing audits and reviews of refunds which involve Corporate Income Tax of in-state, multi-state, and multi-national taxpayers. These audits must be kept confidential and documented using work papers to ensure that policies, procedures, and regulations of the Department are consistent to all taxpayers. This position will represent the section at informal and formal hearings of tax protesters and requires in-state and out of state travel.
Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
-Conduct audits and make a determination on refund requests by reviewing financial records to ensure compliance with Arizona tax laws and regulations.
-Prepare work-papers detailing audit findings.
-Researching statutes and regulations as they apply to business activities conducted by corporate taxpayers.
-Suggest recommendations to integrate Lean principles into the overall continuous improvement strategy of corporate audit.
-Apply accounting and auditing techniques in the conduct of corporate audits.
-Federal and state laws, rules and regulations as they pertain to corporate income tax
-Methodologies of legal research, business law, and project management principles
-Intermediate to advanced use of Microsoft Excel and Word
-Skill in researching, analyzing, and interpreting federal and state laws as they pertain to corporate income tax
-Auditing and accounting methods and techniques
-Applying and interpreting policies and procedures established by the department
-Organizing work papers and documenting audit findings completely and logically
-Excellent verbal and written communication
-Meet with and obtain cooperation of personnel and representatives subject to tax regulation and complete audits of their accounts and records
-Create and maintain an atmosphere of goodwill in conducting audits by communicating effectively, drawing sound conclusions, and preparing clear and concise reports
-Be proficient in the use of personal computers, provisions of Arizona's Corporate Income, Federal Tax Laws and general principles of accounting
-Work on multiple projects and handle varying priorities, work independently and/or collectively and adapt to changing environments
-Ability to apply LEAN concepts to identify ineffective processes and successfully guide the necessary changes determined
The ideal candidate for this position will have:
-Two years of experience in accounting OR certification as a CPA
-Experience with Continuous Improvement or LEAN is preferred
