This position offers a hybrid working schedule with the anticipation of working in-office 2-3 days per week.

As an Auditor 3, this position will conduct highly complex office and field Individual Income Tax audits using acceptable audit methods and procedures. This position will be responsible for collecting and analyzing data, planning and organizing audit procedures, and examining and reviewing financial and other records in order to prepare detailed reports on audit findings.
This position works closely with the IT department in establishing analytics and also may require some overnight travel.

Job Duties: Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

-Conduct independent and objective individual income tax audits of considerable complexity
-Prepare high quality written and oral reports to communicate work results that meet professional standards for clarity and completeness
-Develop audit programs and work closely with IT to establish analytics
-Perform analysis, interpretations, and write-ups regarding tax audits on every aspect of the individual income, and S-Corp tax returns
-Testify at hearings held in the Department, at the Board of Tax Appeals (BOTA), or at court hearings outside the Department as needed by the Appeals Section
-Assist with training new auditors by answering questions and providing solutions that pertain to tax rulings, advising on new policies and procedures as required, and actively promoting teamwork and customer service
-Help to provide solutions to questions and/or problems with creative and proactive thinking
-Attend periodic workshops or training sessions to improve knowledge and skills

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:
-Arizona Revised Statutes, federal code, rules and regulations pertaining to income taxes
-Federal and state tax documents
-Principles and practices of general accounting and auditing

Skilled in:
-Analyzing and interpreting the Arizona income tax code, federal code, rules, regulations and policies
-Effective oral and written communication
-Working on multiple projects with varying priorities
-Assembling audit work papers and audit reports
-Learning and applying Lean Six Sigma principles and concepts

Ability to:
-Interact and work well with others
-Effectively train others

Selective Preference(s):

The ideal candidate for this position will have:
-Two years' experience as an Auditor or equivalent
-Bachelor's Degree in Accounting OR closely related field, preferred
-Experience with continuous improvement and/or Lean Six Sigma principles
