Job Summary:

The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is searching for a Bakery Maintenance & Production Supervisor. You’ll be overseeing the maintenance crew and all maintenance operations, including repairs, preventative work, and installations. Manage the daily maintenance and bakery operations within required timelines and budget limits, ensuring proper inventory, equipment utilization, and compliance with safety and quality standards. Maintain and service all production equipment, ensuring schedules and production specification requirements are met. Addresses training and production issues by providing guidance to inmate workers, and regularly inspects all areas for health and safety concerns while upholding professional ethics.

Job Duties:

- Supervises staff and inmates in the daily operation of the ACI shop, to include staff and inmate evaluations, and resulting performances
- Interacts with other department staff, customers, and ACI’S Customer Service Department
- Approves the quality of products in various stages of the production process
- Calculates and schedules jobs as to their production method in order to complete the job most efficiently and cost-effectively
- Researches and develops more efficient production methods
- Performs on-the-job training for inmates
- Drives on State business
- Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:
- Supervisory and managerial techniques
- Technical and operational knowledge applicable to a bakery
- Equipment maintenance and repairs
- Budget management
- Correctional systems and ADCRR policies and procedures
- Manufacturing and production techniques and methods applicable to a production Bakery
- Quality control techniques
- On-the-job training principles and application
- Thorough understanding of personnel, fiscal, and material management principles

Skill in:
- Efficiently operating bakery equipment
- Leadership, supervision, and management
- Giving direction, communicating, and administration
- Analyzing, decision-making, and problem-solving
- Motivation, constructive criticism, and basic team-building principles

Ability to:
- Lift/Carry approximately 30 lbs
- Push/Pull approximately 30 lbs
- Walk/Run approximately 1 mile
- Repair and maintain bakery machinery
- Evaluate bakery products
- Formulate plans for improvement
- Apply simple bookkeeping and work scheduling principles

Selective Preference(s):

- At least three (3) years of on-the-job maintenance experience as well as supporting educational experience

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation, drug test, and possibly a medical/physical examination.

If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, then the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).

In an effort to maintain a safe environment, all employees are required to take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during their New Employee Orientation and every year thereafter.
