Under the direction of the State Bridge Engineer, manages Bridge Group programs and design services for projects within the Five Year Highway Construction Program. Oversees project delivery, staff assignments, schedules, budgets and performance measures while coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues and achieve ADOT goals. Leads, coaches and develops staff to promote a safe, inclusive and continuously improving work environment.
This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Manage and oversee the Bridge Group's In-house design projects in the Five Year Highway Construction Program and tasks assigned to the Subcommittee of Bridges and Structures, under ADOT's Standards Committee. Assist in the programming process for establishing bridge projects in the Five Year Highway Construction Program. Directing, scheduling and assigning tasks and design projects to Bridge Design Section Leaders and the Standards Engineer. Review and monitor project deliverables and tasks to ensure projects and tasks are delivered on schedule and within budget.
Work with representatives from ADOT Group and District managers, FHWA, other government and private sector officials to discuss and resolve bridge issues. Participate in the development and implementation of Bridge Group measurements in maintaining alignment with ADOT's goals. Use measurement tools to ensure goals are achieved and countermeasures are developed and implemented in achieving Bridge Design Services Goals and Objectives.
Assist the State Bridge Engineer in the development and the implementation of Bridge Group practices, guidelines, procedures or administrative directives. Serve as acting State Bridge Engineer as so designated. Oversee bridge related research through participating on research panels, review boards, committees and attending bridge seminars and conferences.

Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering. 5-10 years experience in bridge engineering with supervisory experience.
Registered Arizona Professional Engineering License - Civil or candidates will be required to meet registration requirements set forth by the Arizona Technical Board of Registration and attain an Arizona PE from the Board within 6 months of employment start date.
Must possess a valid Arizona state driver's license with an acceptable 39 month driving history - This position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job, and the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current, valid class-appropriate driver’s license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver’s license record checks. The license must be current, unexpired, and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records, and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R2-10-207.11).
