Posting Details:

Salary: $40,040 - $60,008

This position may be eligible to receive a temporary stipend of 10% in addition to base pay. If eligible, the temporary stipend amount will be calculated using the employee's base rate of pay and will be reflected in each paycheck. The temporary stipend is subject to available funding

Job Summary:

The Arizona Department of Administration is actively recruiting a Building Engineer for the General Services Division (GSD). This position is responsible for repairs to ASH Hospital buildings by ensuring that maintenance calls for service are handled in the most efficient way possible, as well as the day-to-day maintenance, repair, and efficient operation of all building systems and equipment. The Building Engineer will be expected to coordinate and complete all requests for work, assign priorities/delegate to appropriate vendors if required and follow-up on completion. In addition, the Building Engineer will be expected to perform corrective and preventative maintenance in an effort to prolong the life expectancy of the equipment. The Building Engineer must have a comprehensive understanding of plumbing electrical, carpentry, general maintenance, and HVAC. This position will be required to work some weekends and holidays and assist in after-hours work. The Arizona Department of Administration is actively recruiting a Dispatcher for the General Services Division (GSD).

Job Duties:

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

  • Electrical, mechanical, EMS, and HVAC/Stationary Engineering systems, plumbing drains, supply water systems 
  • OSHA, local & State and Federal codes 
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics and ladder diagrams 
  • Current construction principles, methods and techniques 
  • Good understanding of CMMS systems and how to use them

Skill in:

  • Estimating time and material requirements for work projects. This includes cost analysis of repairing existing equipment versus replacement with new equipment 
  • Installation, repair and maintenance of all HVAC systems and assignment common to the trade 
  • Effective customer service, oral and written communications

Ability to::

  • Diagnose problems/malfunctions in a wide variety of systems and equipment 
  • Inspect, service, repair and install a wide variety of refrigeration equipment, flooring, roofing, ceiling, fire alarm, electrical switches and miscellaneous building items 
  • Maintain records/prepare reports
  • Be flexible and adapt to changing priorities 
  • Work under pressure
Selective Preference(s):
  • Certification for refrigerant recovery (EPA Universal Certification) 
  • 5 years previous building operations engineering experience
Pre-Employment Requirements:
  • An individual working at the State Hospital must be able to obtain a valid Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card pursuant to A.R.S. § 41-1758.07.

  • Requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver license appropriate to the assignment.
