This internship post is a collaboration between the Bureau of Women’s and Children’s Health and the Bureau of Assessment and Evaluation.
 
The Bureau of Women's and Children's Health efforts to improve the health of Arizona women and children. Activities focus on prevention programs, assessment of health status, health workforce shortages and identification of health issues, development of partnerships and planning to address health issues, and improving access to care while supporting safety net providers and services for underserved people and communities. The Bureau publishes reports every year on a whole host of topics including but not limited to women’s and children’s health, access to care and oral health.
 
The mission of the Bureau of Assessment and Evaluation is to serve as a resource to all stakeholders with the purpose that Programs and Partners will make data-driven decisions that provide equitable opportunities for all Arizonans for them to achieve their own versions of optimal health.
 
- The Maternal & Child Health intern will join our team for 9-13 weeks, working 11-19 hours each week.
- Start date - As soon as you’re ready we can accommodate your class schedule so that you may work during business hours.

JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a talented and engaged intern who is working toward a degree and wants to develop beyond the classroom!

You would be a great fit if you have excelled in courses in public health, health services, social sciences, epidemiology, evaluation, project management and/or strategic planning.
 
In this role, you will be responsible for designing a coordinated statewide action plan referencing evidence-based or promising practices that reduce maternal and fetal-infant mortality in Arizona. The strategic plan should follow a Theory of Change framework. The Theory of Change is a logic model that describes a step-by-step approach to achieving a vision. In addition, they should follow the Governor's Goal Council Action Plan template and in alignment with the current Maternal Mortality Action Plan.
 
Other methodologies that will be utilized to complete the plan include: literature review of evidence based or promising practices. SWOT analysis.
 
Key duties include: review the maternal mortality action plan, identify evidence-based practices, research formats and frameworks applicable to this topic, write narrative to describe the plan, and prepare presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
 
You will be coached and mentored by the Chief of the Bureau of Assessment and Evaluation and Chief of the Bureau of Women’s and Children’s Health, as well as collaborating teams.
