The Department of Economic Security, Division of Benefits and Medical Eligibility, is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Business Intelligence Analyst Intermediate for the Family Assistance Administration (FAA) Systems team. Under minimal supervision, performs the most complex tasks to support the division by performing data analysis, data mining, design, development, testing activities, and execution of Ad-hoc and Standard reports to achieve strategic objectives and goals. Serves on projects and/or pilots to develop and/or provide input for requirements, provide technical guidance for design or enhancements to system/reports, and develop Work Plans, schedule, monitor, etc. to ensure successful and timely completion.

This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Job Duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Design Adhoc and Standard reports in Tableau, SSIS, or other technology solutions which may require writing SQL and "Run Book" documentation to support design. Record work related activities in an operating system and/or place documents in the appropriate drive following system processes and procedures.
• Manage life-cycle development and deployment utilizing SSIS, SQL, Tableau, Visual Basic, MS Access, dimensional and relational database design, or other business intelligence software tools. Perform data analysis, data mining, design, development, and execution of Adhoc and Standards reports ensuring consistency and applicability to achieve established strategic objectives and goals.
• Serves on projects and/or pilots (develop Workplan, monitor, schedule, etc.) to provide technical guidance working collaboratively with the Analyst on design to ensure integration between Business Intelligence and business requirements, and ensure timely and successful completion.
• Write and/or provide input for requirements, framework, and mechanisms for data analytics working closely with Analyst and End User and make recommendations to support automation and maintenance ensuring successful integration between Business Intelligence environment and business requirements.
• Participate in planning, development, testing, and delivery of solutions, and data stewardship activities. Develop and/or review test plans, monitor testing (assist with testing), ensure results are adequately tested (integration testing of technical and functional requirements and regression testing to identify anomalies) and validated, and create system documentation.
• Develop, analyze, and evaluate business needs to improve workflow processes, troubleshoot Business Intelligence tool problems and tune for performance optimization and usability.
• Design and deliver end-user presentations, training, Desk-Aids, and/or associated materials to technical and non-technical audiences. Attend and participate in meetings.
• Other duties as assigned, as related to the position.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge in:
• Service Level Agreement (SLA); laws, rules, security policies, privacy, data confidentiality management.
• Basic knowledge of engineering workflow, IT lifecycle and system design, performance tuning, and Business Intelligence tools and features.
• Statistical and business analysis, research, and analytical processes and methodologies.
• Multiple Business Intelligence software applications (SSIS, SQL, Tableau, Visual Basic, SSRS, SPSS, MS Access, etc.) and multidimensional and relational database design.
• Project management concepts, principles, and practices.
• English language for sentence structure, composition, content, spelling, and grammar.

Skilled in:
• Dimensional and Relational database design.
• Anaylsis, design review, troubleshooting, implementation and integration for applications.
• Problem-solving and negotiation skills to resolve complex issues.
• Good time management and organizational skills with attention to detail.
• Effective listening, oral and written communication skills to write and communicate technical and non-technical concepts to a variety of audiences.
• Use of Business Intelligence (BI software (SQL, SSIS, Tableau, Visual Basic, and MS Access.)

Ability to:
• Write requirements, diagram business processes and workflows, entity relationships, translate into technical solutions and reports, develop and execute queries and view objects, and present in a meaningful format.
• Work at least 40 hours per week and maintain satisfactory attendance and punctuality standards.
• Work independently or collaboratively and under stress/pressure while engaging in critical thinking using logic and reasoning.
• Interact with all levels of personnel in a professional manner.
• Analyze data, develop and execute queries and reports, and proficiently manipulate data.
• Adapt to changing needs and priorities quickly while contributing feedback based on rules and regulations.
• Multi-task and make good decisions, balancing competing deadlines and priorities.

Selective Preference(s):

The ideal candidate for this position will have:

• A Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Management or closely related field and 2 years of experience in a business intelligence or data analysis role.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Employee shall obtain and maintain a valid Level One fingerprint clearance card that meets DES requirements for a Level One card pursuant to Arizona Revised Statute 41-1969.

Retirement:

State employees are required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS), the State sponsored retirement contribution plan and the Long-Term Disability (LTD) program after a 27-week waiting period.
