Job Summary:

The Arizona Board of Accountancy is seeking a dedicated administrative professional with top notch technical, communication, time management and interpersonal skills to help the Arizona Board of Accountancy fulfill its mission protect the public from unlawful, incompetent, unqualified or unprofessional certified public accountants or public accountants through certification, regulation and rehabilitation. The position will play a key role in helping to modernize the Board’s operations to increase efficiency and effectiveness and provide support to the Board’s registration and operations team.

Job Duties:

In this position, you will:

  • Facilitate the work of a seven-member Certification Advisory Committee, a seven-member Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Committee and a seven-member Peer Review Oversight Advisory Committee
    • Ensure proper written notification (notice and agenda) and draft and ensure timely posting of minutes
    • Facilitate compliance with CPE and peer review requirements
    • Write staff feedback summaries of agenda matters for Board and committee members as necessary
    • Interact with registrants via phone and/or email and provide customer service
  • Responsible for firm registration and reactivation and reinstatement of CPAs 
    • Process and recommend for Executive Director or Board approval firm applications, firm name change requests, and firm cancellations for sole
      practitioners and Professional Corporations (PC), Limited Liability Companies (LLC), Professional Limited Liability Company (PLLC) and Limited Liability Partnership (LLP) firms
    • Review and approve firm registration renewals
    • Prepare and mail initial and renewal registrations
    • Prepare and mail suspension orders for failure to timely renew registration
    • Prepare and mail expired orders in accordance with applicable statutes
  • Responsible for reactivation and reinstatement of CPAs
    • Review reactivation and reinstatement applications for completeness, including organizing course outlines and certificates of completion for review by the Board’s CPE Advisory Committee
    • Perform CPE Audits
  • Support Assistant Director
    • Develop proficiency in examination, re-exam, and certification application processing; initial and renewal registration processing; and front office procedures to provide back-up assistance and business continuity for Certification and Registration Assistant positions, and to provide necessary exposure to business processes gain knowledge, to assist Assistant Director in business analysis, continuous improvement opportunities and development of written desk procedures.
    • Create and maintain forms, including PDF fillable forms
    • Develop and/or assist with the development of desk procedures
    • Identify problems and find solutions and/or implement already identified solutions
    • Develop and/or assist with the development of tracking and reporting for performance measurement
    • Responsible for the destruction and archival of records pursuant to records retention policy
