The Department of Economic Security, Division of Employment and Rehabilitation Services (DERS) performs an integral role in improving Arizona’s workforce by assisting individuals who are unemployed or underemployed, and those with barriers, to prepare for and obtain meaningful employment. DERS supports Arizona employers with recruitment assistance by connecting them to a skilled workforce.
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Tax Collector with the Unemployment Insurance Administration (UIA). This position helps to ensure employers comply with Unemployment Insurance Tax. This position contacts those entitles that failed to submit quarterly reports or tax payments. The Collector enforces collections by lien, and levy actions.
• Contacts employers through telephone or letter.
• Documents all collection action using the computer system.
• Reviews and analyzes employer account information to determine process the step taken
in collection process.
• Skip traces assets for levy recommendations.
• Knowledge in collections laws and procedures.
• Knowledge of skip tracing and collection.
• Skills in written and oral communication.
• Skill in utilizing a wide variety of resources available to locate individuals.
• Ability to relate to employers under stress.
• Ability to perform rapid and accurate mathematical computations.
• Bilingual in English and Spanish
• Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-
Verify), applicable to all newly hired State employees.
• Successfully pass background and reference checks; employment is contingent upon
completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably
accommodate any restrictions.

State employees are required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS), the State sponsored retirement contribution plan and the Long-Term Disability (LTD) program after a 27-week waiting period.
