Job Summary:

The Division of Community Advocacy & Intergovernmental Relations (DCAIR) ensures Health Plan and Program Contractors’ resolution of consumer affairs and human rights issues and compliance with related aspects of their contracts. DCAIR is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Communications Intern. The Communications intern assists DCAIR with all aspects of the agency’s external, public-facing communication. Major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Generate social media content and maintain/augment AHCCCS’s social media presence.

• Assist in planning, writing, designing and managing monthly eNewsletter, press releases, media alerts, website content, blog posts and PowerPoint presentations.

• Design flyers and handouts.

• Organize and attend bi-weekly marketing committee meetings including preparing agenda and taking minutes.

• Collaborate with staff on new ideas, directions and venues for external communications.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge and Skills:
• G-suite applications.

• Organization and time management; data analysis; social media; email marketing; writing, editing, and visual storytelling, basic design, and creative problem solving and attention to detail.

• Social Media management (YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Hootsuite).

• Adobe Creative Cloud – Photoshop, InDesign, Premier, etc.

Abilities:
• Ability to work independently, prioritize, multitask and meet deadlines.

• Reliably communicate online during work hours via email, phone, and video.

Qualifications:

Minimum:
• Must be in Junior or Senior year of a BS/BA or working towards a higher degree.

• Candidate must be at least 18 years old.

• Candidate must have a GPA of 3.0 or better.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify), applicable to all newly hired State employees.
• Successfully pass fingerprint background check, prior employment verifications and reference checks; employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.
• Travel may be required for State business. Employees who drive on state business must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.) AND have an acceptable driving record for the last 39 months including no DUI, suspension or revocations and less than 8 points on your license. If an Out of State Driver License was held within the last 39 months, a copy of your MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) is required prior to driving for State Business. Employees may be required to use their own transportation as well as maintaining valid motor vehicle insurance and current Arizona vehicle registration; however, mileage will be reimbursed.
