Compliance Safety Health Officers will work under general supervision in conducting partial and comprehensive occupational safety and health inspections in all types of industries throughout Arizona to ensure compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act and all standards and rules issued pursuant to the Act.
The candidate appointed to this position will: plans on-site inspections, with or without advance notice, researched and analyzes work processes, practices and conditions; using the Federal OSHA website, review eTools to determine common hazards in a specific type of industry, review company information using on-line employer websites; review national and local insurance websites for injury and illness rate data; use ICA Annual Report for data on industry rates in Arizona; use the National Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) to review current national trends on injury and illnesses.
This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
● Conducting investigations into occupational safety and health complaints and work-related accidents and fatalities
● Interviewing employees and management, obtains evidence of regulatory violations using measurements devices and photographs of unsafe conditions and/or reviews mandated records as required by appropriate federal and state laws.
● Determining whether employees are provided routine safety and health training as well as exposure to hazards in the workplace.
● Communicating with the employer what to expect following an inspection; developing reports, complete forms of inspections and investigations, prepare narratives, and recommend citations.
● Entering information into the ADOSH Sales-force system; adding abatement date and time for each serious hazard written.
● Submitting report to up-line management.
● Answering and generate on-line complaints from external customers who call or walk-in.
● Requesting, tracking, and verifying abatement for citations issued.
● Answering and following through on questions from customers.
● Attending and completing scheduled safety and health training classes to improve upon skills necessary to enhance knowledge in the field and hazard
recognition.
● Participating in the Arizona Management System (AMS).

Ideal candidates will have:
• Three years of safety and health experience; or Associate degree in safety and health or closely related field with one year of safety and health experience; Bachelors’ degree in safety and health or closely related field with little to no experience.
OR
• Any combination of training and experience that meet the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs); typical ways KSAs are obtained may include but are not limited to: relevant degree from an accredited college or university, coursework and work experience relevant to the assignment.
Arizona Driver's License:
Must possess valid Arizona Driver's License. Required In-state and out-of-state travel is required. Requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver's license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license record checks, must complete any required driver training (See Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207 (12). Employees may be required to use their own transportation, as well as maintaining valid motor vehicle insurance and current Arizona vehicle registration; however, mileage will be reimbursed.
