Under the supervision of the Health Services Administrator (HSA), the Correctional Nursing Supervisor 2 is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, maintaining, coordinating, and evaluating the nursing services at Adobe Mountain School. The Correctional Nursing Supervisor 2 provides direct supervision of the nursing staff and other ancillary staff to ensure that there is timely access to care and complete documentation in the health records. The Correctional Nursing Supervisor 2 ensures that the health unit is staffed 24 hours per day, 7 days per week by nursing staff. Under the guidance of the HSA, the Correctional Nursing Supervisor 2 participates in quality assurance initiatives and peer reviews of nursing services, and performs other duties appropriate to this position.
Ensure high quality nursing services are provided through consistent engagement with nursing staff
Coordinate work schedules/time sheets, staffing/shift requirements, schedule changes, and/or utilizing nurse registry as needed
Assist with recruiting, interviewing, and hiring nursing staff
Attend, participate in, or lead meetings as assigned by the HSA
Collaborate with secure care administration and staff to coordinate services for youth health care
Assign and follows up on nursing correspondence/communication with families and outside stakeholders (e.g., hospital staff)
Monitor credentialing and licensing requirements of staff and work with state licensing boards, as assigned by the HSA
Assist with writing and updating policies, procedures, and protocols (e.g., standard work), as assigned by the HSA
Monitor medications, vaccinations, TB testing, and other areas of health care, as assigned by the HSA
Participate in direct patient care as needed
Provide training for nursing and secure care staff at Adobe Mountain School
Assist with employee tuberculosis (TB) skin test program

The ideal candidate will possess the following:
National Commission on Correctional Health Care Certificate is preferred
Experience working as a supervisor in the public sector
Experience working with adolescents
Experience in an acute care setting
Experience in emergency/urgent care setting
Experience in a psychiatry setting
Bilingual skills in Spanish/English are preferred but not required
Bachelors Degree in Nursing
A valid, non-restricted active nursing license from the State of Arizona
Five years experience working with patients
Three years of correctional healthcare experience
Experience as a Nursing Supervisor
Must possess a current healthcare professional CPR card
Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a comprehensive background investigation, drug screening and pre-employment physical examination.
