Salary: $66,000 - $72,000 

Grade: 21

Job Summary:

• Will provide professional development to school counselors and managing projects to support statewide school counselor support.
• Occasional in-state and out-of-state travel is required for this position.

The Arizona Department of Education currently utilizes a hybrid work environment, with up to two days of remote work (contingent upon business needs). Candidates should apply with an ability and willingness to work in-office up to five days per week as business needs necessitate.

 

Job Duties:

• Collaborate with various stakeholders to provide professional development, collaboration, training, and overall support to K-12 counselors and Arizona's students
• Support school counselors and high school staff with training and technical assistance with Education and Career Action Plans
• Collaborate with CTE to provide resources for career exploration for all grade levels and promote awareness of and availability of CTE programs as a viable option for student academic and career success
• Create and update guidance documents to advocate for quality school counseling services for all students
• Assist with the management and support of users and content within the ADE Application for Education and Career Action Plan (ECAP)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge in:
• Understanding of the role and responsibilities of K-12 School Counselors
• Advanced knowledge of the American School Counseling Association National Model
• Applicants must hold a current Arizona PreK-12 School Counselor Certificate and have experience serving as a school counselor
• A bachelor’s degree in education, counseling, CTE, special education, or a related field, or equivalent experience to substitute for the degree, is required.

Skills in:
• Present to large and small groups of stakeholders both online and in-person
• Facilitation skills to deliver training, workshop sessions, and other professional
• development opportunities
• Critically think and problem-solve

Ability to:
• Design needed materials, resources, and other needed items
• Interpret federal and state guidelines and rules as appropriate
• Collaborate with diverse groups of educators to accomplish identified tasks

Selective Preference(s):

• Preference will be given to those applicants with a master’s degree, teaching certification, and knowledge of Career and Technical Education (CTE).

Retirement:

You will be required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) upon your 27th week of employment, subject to waiting period. On or shortly after, your first day of employment you will be provided with enrollment instructions and effective date.
