The Ben Avery Shooting Facility is one of the largest publicly operated shooting facilities in the country. Our world-class shooting range is a City of Phoenix Point of Pride and has received a Five Star rating from the National Association of Shooting Ranges. Located on 1,650 acres in north Phoenix, the Ben Avery Shooting Facility averages more than 240,000 shooters per year. The facility offers a fun and safe environment for shooters of all experience levels and strives to provide a quality recreation experience for all users.
This position provides customer service support at a 1,650 acre public Shooting Range facility. Provides world class customer service to all internal and external customers received by telephone, in person, or through applications and correspondence.
Major duties include:
Enters transactions into PC cash register, balances and makes deposits
Answer phones from internal and external customers, communicate using handheld radios, stocking shelves, inventory, cleaning and organizing.
Aids in interpreting rules and regulations to customers
Maintains user group agreements; Schedules and prepares invoicing/collects fees from shooting events, user groups, classes and campers.
Maintains campground reservations and checks campers in/out
Provides program and range information
Performs other duties as assigned
Work schedule will consist of mornings, afternoons, evenings and weekends in a noisy environment, which may include working in extreme heat & cold, wind and/or rain.
The candidate must have experience in/with: customer service techniques; data entry; cash register operation; office procedures and practices; basic office equipment; file organization; multitasking; recordkeeping; and problem solving. The preferred candidate will have knowledge of: clay target sports; firearm handling; range safety operation, procedures and practices; applicable Arizona Revised Statutes; program rules and State and Federal code and regulations regarding weapon and firearm tactics. The candidate must have strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills and have experience in accounting practices, and working knowledge of Google Suite; Calendar; excellent skills in Typing/10-Key; cash handling abilities.
A Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card will be required. A baseline blood lead level and a baseline hearing test, both which will be conducted on an annual basis, will be conducted prior to employment.
Position requires possession of and the ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.).
