Job Summary:

This position is responsible to for the daily operation of the mail room and supervision of the mail room staff. Make services call for departments requesting a trouble or service call and follow up with that department to make sure services was completed. Direct oversight of mail room staff to make sure inventory and shelves are being kept orderly. Meet weekly with staff to train and discuss current issues. Monitor the organization of both the mail and storage room, which includes interaction with Arizona State Surplus to remove all surplus items from building the building.

Job Duties:

This position is responsible to for the daily operation of the mail room and mailroom equipment; supervise mailroom staff; conducts both internal and external mail courier services; works with USPS, Fedex, and UPS to facilitate the pick up and drop off of packages and parcels; serves as back up to Claims Pitney Bowes production printer, sorter and envelope stuffer; follows up with mail room staff to make sure inventory and shelves are being kept ordering and stocked regularly; makes services call for division copiers and fax machines and monitors the organization of both the mail and storage room, which includes interaction with the Arizona State Surplus to remove all surplus items from the building.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:
Knowledge in the collection, sorting, preparation and delivery of mail.
Knowledge of Postal Regulations, correct meters, registering and certifying of mail.
Knowledge to determine the most cost effective method of mailing, correct metering,
registering and certifying of mail.
Knowledge to oversee and participate in maintaining routine office records and reports.
Knowledge of basic store keeping procedures, including shipping, receiving, and inventory control.
Knowledge of special storage requirements for certain materials/supplies.
Knowledge of Arizona State Surplus processes and procedures.

Skill In:

Skill in usage of computer and various operating system to complete daily tasks.
Skill in planning planning work flows and schedule work.

Selective Preference(s):

Arizona Driver's License:
Must possess valid Arizona Driver's License. Required In-state and out-of-state travel is required. Requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver's license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license record checks, must complete any required driver training (See Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207 (12). Employees may be required to use their own transportation, as well as maintaining valid motor vehicle insurance and current Arizona vehicle registration; however, mileage will be reimbursed.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Two year on-the-job training as a clerk in a mail room and or two year experience working in a Post Office. Supervisory experience. Basic knowledge of automated inventory and mail room systems

Retirement:

You will be eligible to participate in the state employee health/disability insurance plan, and you are required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS). ASRS participation may begin immediately or upon your 27th week of employment. Contributions are matched by the employer.
