Job Summary:

The Arizona Department of Administration (ADOA), State Procurement Office (SPO), is seeking a skilled and experienced Deputy Chief Procurement Officer to support the Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation, and Reentry (ADCRR).

In this role, you'll work closely with the Chief Procurement Officer (CPO) to manage and lead ADCRR’s strategic procurement initiatives. You will be responsible for the daily operations of the procurement team, providing direct guidance to staff, and ensuring all procurement activities align with the policies and procedures set by the State Procurement Office.

A key part of your responsibilities will be to assist the CPO with protest and claim decisions, monitor department solicitations to ensure deadlines are met, and provide internal stakeholders with the support they need to succeed. Additionally, you will play a critical role in strategic planning and helping the CPO with high-visibility projects identified by ADOA, ADCRR, or the Governor's Office. This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic procurement professional to lead a dedicated team and make a significant impact on state-wide initiatives.

Job Duties:
  • Manage Daily Operations of the Procurement team - providing direct feedback to procurement staff as problems arise, ensuring project deadlines are being met, ensuring procurement policies and procedures are being followed, and ensuring internal stakeholders have the necessary support needed to serve their customers
  • Help manage and oversee procurement initiatives to ensure compliance to the Arizona Procurement Code
  • Assist with developing, reviewing, overseeing procurement policies and procedures, and providing recommendations and guidance on procurement actions
  • Assist the CPO carry out strategic planning and procurement initiatives, making decisions on protests and claims and supporting high visibility projected identified by ADOA, DOC, or the Governor's office
  • Serve as Lead Procurement Officer and act on behalf of the CPO in their absence. The Deputy CPO will be in charge of overseeing day-to-day procurement operations, responsible for mentoring and guiding procurement staff, and will act as lead on multiple procurement initiatives

Selective Preference(s):
  • BS/BA in Supply Chain, Business Management, Finance, or similar field
  • Previous State or other public procurement experience
  • Previous experience with a social services related organization
Pre-Employment Requirements:
