Job Summary:

The Prescott Historical Society is looking for an experienced development manager to join its team at the AAM-accredited Sharlot Hall Museum, a beautiful 4-acre campus in downtown Prescott that includes historic buildings, exhibits, a collection of over 40,000 objects, and a research library with an extensive archival collection.

The Development Manager will be responsible for planning, designing, and implementing a comprehensive fundraising strategy that includes major donors, individual giving, grant writing, membership and corporate support. Candidates must be excellent writers, have extensive experience with donor databases and on-line fundraising, and have a thorough knowledge of current fundraising best practices. The starting salary is $50-$55,000, plus excellent benefits

Job Duties:
  • Grow the museum's individual and corporate membership programs and increase the museum's annual fund through a combination of on-line and direct mail solicitation
  • Conduct prospect research on individuals, corporations, and foundations to assess alignment of their interests to the Museum's goals and needs and develop corresponding funding and grant proposals;
  • Work with the Executive Director and Board of Trustees in cultivating manor donors, developing a planned giving program, and building an endowment fund;
  • Coordinate fundraising and donor events and supervise volunteers involved in fundraising activities;
  • Oversee earned income activities, including facility rentals for special events and the gift shop.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Thorough Knowledge of:

  • Current fundraising best practices, including experience with social media fundraising


  • Expertise with donor databases and POS systems
  • Microsoft Word (i.e. Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills
  • Interpersonal communication

Ability to:

  • Juggle multiple projects, set priorities and meet deadlines;
  • Work both independently and as part of a team.
Selective Preference(s):
  • Bachelors degree and at least six years of successful fundraising experience in a museum or other cultural non-profit organization
