Digital Strategist

Job Summary:

The Digital Strategist is responsible for curating, implementing, and optimizing digital initiatives that support the agency's mission, improve public engagement, and enhance Communication team output. This position reports directly to the Director of Communications and Communications Manager and works closely with leadership to align digital efforts with agency priorities. The role operates in a fast-paced environment and requires agility, initiative, and the ability to manage multiple priorities at once. Occasional statewide travel for official business is required.


This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

Job Duties:
  • Produce high‑quality photography, graphics, and visual assets to support agency programs, public information campaigns, and community outreach efforts.
  • Translate official documents, public notices, digital content, and outreach materials from English to Spanish and Spanish to English with accuracy and cultural sensitivity.
  • Curate and execute comprehensive digital strategies aligned with agency goals and public service priorities- Optimize the agency’s digital presence, including websites, social media platforms, and online campaigns.
  • Collaborate with internal departments, IT teams, and external vendors as directed
  • Ensure all digital content meets accessibility standards, privacy regulations, and security policies- Lead digital transformation initiatives to improve user experience and streamline public services
  • Maintain content strategy, ensuring messaging is clear, accurate, and consistent across channels
  • Stay informed on emerging technologies, digital trends, and best practices in government communications
  • Collaborate with internal departments, IT teams, and external vendors as directed and provide training and guidance to staff on digital tools and platforms
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):
  • 2-4 years of experience in digital strategy, digital communications, or a related role (government experience preferred)
  • Strong understanding of web analytic tools (e.g, Google Analytics), CMS platforms, and social media management
  • Experience with user-centered design and digital accessibility standards
  • Demonstrated skills in photography and graphic design, with the ability to create visually compelling digital content
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and project management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strategic thinking and problem solving
  • Data driven decision making
  •  Adaptability in a fast paced, high demand environment
  • Ability to collaborate with stakeholders and maintain engagement.
 
Selective Preference(s):

Experience working within a government or public sector environment

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in communications, Marketing, Information Technology, Public Administration, or a related field
MUST HAVE: Spanish language, copy translation

Retirement:

State employees are required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS), the State sponsored retirement contribution plan and the Long-Term Disability (LTD) program after a 27-week waiting period. The ASRS defined benefit plan provides for life-long income upon retirement. You will also have the option to participate in a voluntary deferred compensation program to take advantage of tax-deferred retirement investments.
