Job Summary:

• Manage and implement the goals and benchmarks set for the office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusions (EDI)
• Work with Local Education Agencies (LEAs), Charters and Internal and External stakeholders on issues of equitable services, programs, and outcomes
• As a supervisor, this position will have duties including, but not limited to: oversee and direct daily work activities; conduct regular one-on-one meetings; provide coaching, mentoring and discipline as necessary; administer performance evaluations; manage schedules and leave requests; hire and train staff.
• In-state and out-of-state travel is required for this position.

Job Duties:

• Manage and implement the goals and benchmarks set for the office of EDI
• Assist in conveying the EDI mission and vision to internal and external partners
• Direct and supervise EDI staff in the compilation/production/dissemination of resources, materials, and professional learning focused on equity, diversity, and inclusion
• Participate as a representative of the EDI Division in the development and implementation of equitable education policies for students who are historically marginalized and under-served
• Create strategic partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to meet short and long-term goals focused on equity, diversity, and inclusion
• Work collaboratively with agency staff across all program areas focused on equitable outcomes for all students
• Represent the EDI Unity locally and nationally when necessary
• Review data to determine equity gaps, possible program and policy needs, and professional learning for internal and external stakeholders

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge:
• Equity focused policies, laws, and regulations for diverse student populations
• Instructional programs and requirements for diverse student populations
• Equity issues in education
• Knowledge of effective best practices and research of equity in education
• State and National Equity initiatives and programs
• Strategic planning and implementation
• Position requires supervisory experience (graduates of ADE’s Aspiring Leaders program may be considered in lieu of supervisory experience).
Applicants must have:
• Teaching Certificate and/or Administrator Certificate
• Taught and/or worked with Diverse Populations
• Administered, led, and supported an Equity focused or Diverse Populations program/project or related field
• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field
Skills:
• Leading and implementing large scale initiatives focused on diverse learner programs
• Excellent professional communication skills, both verbal and written
• Analytical skills for compliance monitoring, needs assessments and program evaluations
• Presentation, including presenting to large groups
• Team building and leadership skills
• Technical and report writing
• Data disaggregation and decision making
• Disaggregating multiple forms of data
• Experience using on-line platforms (i.e., Zoom, Teams, Google Meets)
• Intermediate to advanced skill in using Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Abilities:
• Interpret policy and create responsive systems of implementation, support, and monitoring
• Analyze data and propose goals, objectives and strategies to problem solve
• Communicate clearly and concisely with LEAs, members of the public, and governmental agencies when conveying ideas, recommendations, and proposals
• Develop, deliver, and facilitate effective professional development
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Work independently and/or collaboratively in large or small groups as needed
• Effectively manage and lead a team

Selective Preference(s):

• Preference will be given to those applicants with Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, Diversity and Equity in Education, Social Justice, Curriculum and Instruction or Education Policy.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

• Position requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.).
• Offers are contingent upon successful completion of all background and reference checks, required documents and, if applicable, a post-offer medical/physical evaluation.

Retirement:

You will be required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) upon your 27th week of employment, subject to waiting period. On or shortly after, your first day of employment you will be provided with enrollment instructions and effective date.
