Job Summary:

The Arizona Office of Tourism (AOT) is searching for a highly motivated individual to serve as the Director of Finance. In this position you will be responsible for managing all aspects of accounting activities to insure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.

Job Duties:
  • Responsible for accuracy of monthly financial reporting through oversight and reconciliation of monthly division budget reports using data in AFIS; distribute to appropriate cost centers.
  • Payroll initiator for HRIS and responsible for oversight of payroll processing.
  • Responsible for the agency’s financial and budgeting processes and record keeping.
  • Responsible for the accuracy and prompt processing of all agency travel claims and reimbursements.
  • Development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures and internal controls.
  • Educate staff on accounting and travel policies.
  • Responsible for Agency’s account payable and receivable.
  • Supervise staff.
  • Present financials monthly to Director and annually as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned as related to the position.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:

  • Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) Principles.
  • Arizona Financial information System (AFIS).
  • State of Arizona Accounting Manual (SAAM).

Skills in:

  • Interpreting and applying policies.
  • Procedures and standards to specifics situations.
  • Oral and written communication.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.


  • Analyze data and information using established criteria in order to determine outcomes.
  • Use initiative and judgment to make sound decisions and meet performance standards.
  • Work effectively with all levels of the agency.
Selective Preference(s):
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
  • 5 years related work experience.
