The ideal candidate will manage all aspects of accounting activities to insure compliance with accounting policies and procedures for the Arizona Office of Tourism.
This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.
• Responsible for accuracy of monthly financial report through oversight and reconciliation of monthly budget report created through AZ360 and its distribution
• Responsible for reviewing and approval of travel and accounts payable documents
• Payroll initiator for HRIS and responsible for all components for payroll processing
• Responsible for agency's financial and budgeting processes and record keeping
• Meet with department directors to review and manage encumbrances
• Educating staff on best practices regarding SAAM compliance
• Provide daily supervision for accounting coordinator
Knowledge:
• Comprehensive understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP), Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) principles and the Arizona Financial Information System
Skills:
• In interpreting and applying policies, procedures and standards to specific situations, strong oral and written communication
Abilities:
• To use initiative and judgment to make sound decisions and meet performance standards; work and communicate effectively with all levels of the agency
• To analyze data and information using established criteria in order to determine outcomes
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field, 5 years related experience
