
The Director of Fiscal Operations reports directly to the CFO/COO for First Things First and supports supervising staff responsible for financial reporting, the annual financial audit, procurement, accounting, grant reporting, agency budgeting, payroll, travel, fleet and facilities. The position must interface with State Agencies, Human Resources and multiple accounting systems. The work of the Fiscal Operations Director requires a high degree of technical knowledge, competency and financial accuracy. The position requires substantial effort to establish effective working relationships with a diverse group of individuals within and outside the agency.
This position may offer the ability to work remotely, within Arizona, based upon the department's business needs and continual meeting of expected performance measures.

The Fiscal Operations Director is responsible for FTF's day-to-day budgeting and accounting operations. In this role they must:
● Work effectively with the CFO/COO.
● Engage in agency budgeting, accounting, and payroll.
● Attend to the general ledger, accounts payable and receivable.
● Prepare financial statements and reports in conformity with accounting and audit standards and principals.
● Coordinate with the State to provide accurate and timely financial information and reports.
● Support external/internal auditors in their work with FTF.
● Engage in cash management and account reconciliations.
● Understand fixed asset accounting and inventory.
● Support agency travel and fleet operations.
● Be proficient in Federal/State grant accounting.
● Troubleshoot system accounting and reporting issues.
● Support of unit staff.
● Support the CFO/COO in preparation of financial reports to/for the Board.
● Provide accounting assistance to business managers as needed throughout the agency.
● Participate in budget planning and direct/facilitate the load of agency budgets within the accounting system.
● Performs duties in a manner that supports the First Things First internal culture and
mission with respect and cooperation.
● Support additional opportunities as related to the role and other unit functions.
● Five plus years of accounting experience, a B.A. or equivalent in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration (or other relevant field), and/or the equivalent combination of experience.
● Knowledge of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), government accounting, and encumbrances.
● Knowledge of professional accounting and audit standards and procedures, proper internal controls and governmental budgeting.
● Experience with federal regulations, grants, Arizona Revised States, and state accounting procedures.
● Experience with accounting systems, spreadsheets, email and other business software products.
