The Reservist position serves in a part-time, on-call, as-needed position.
The Disaster Recovery Coordinator 1 supports the DEMA Mission by providing emergency management capabilities to Arizona. Incumbent will support coordination activities in the areas of emergency preparedness, logistics, finance, response, recovery and mitigation efforts in order to reduce the impact of emergencies and disasters on people and property in the Whole Community. The Disaster Recovery Coordinator 1 works under the direction of the Human Services Coordinator in the Recovery Branch. This position is critical to allow DEMA adequate staffing surge capacity. Duties may include knowledge of laws, rules, and regulations related to emergency management; prepare documents following established state and federal criteria; collect and compile data; coordinate assistance programs; draft and review policies and procedures for programs; perform on-site visits; and review cost documentation. Attend training workshops to learn and maintain working knowledge or emergency management fundamentals. Individuals will personally prepare for anytime (24/7) response and no-notice recall to the State or Alternate Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) and/or Joint Field Office (JFO) during disaster exercise activations. Trains for specific SEOC positions and performs duties as assigned through internal agency policy. Actively participates in promoting a continuous improvement workplace culture, through the use of teamwork, root cause problem solving, standard operating procedures, and review of performance metrics.
Responsibilities include:
• Perform Work with partners, stakeholders, local community members, and the general public. Files necessary forms and applications following established criteria
• Performs final inspections of completed work through on-site visits, compare completed work with approved scope of work; review cost documentation.
• Perform preliminary assessments of disaster related damage.
• Perform interim inspections of work and progress.
• Attend training workshops to learn and maintain a working knowledge of emergency management principles, standards and practices.
• Trains for specific State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) positions and performs duties as assigned through internal agency policy.

Desired qualifications include any combination of experience, education, and training that meets the knowledge, skills, and abilities as described. Preferred candidate will possess 3-5 years of experience/knowledge in Disaster Relief/Emergency Management/All-Hazards response; and/or 3+ years in a customer service role/environment.
• Requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state issued driver's license. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete the required driver training (See Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12).
• In and out of State travel may be required.
• Selected incumbents are required to pass a criminal background investigation and have identification enabling them to enter federal facilities.
