Job Summary:

The Education Curator is responsible for the school tour curricula, gallery guides, tour content, teacher workshops, and all other educational programming as needed to include the determination of exhibit content as it relates to educational themes and programming. Other duties are ongoing - volunteer recruitment, training, coordination and representing the AHS positively to our various constituents at all times..

Job Duties:
  • Public outreach programs; school tours, lectures, teacher workshops, summer youth programs.
  • Advance AHS relationships with area teacher within area education programs including National History Day, etc.
  • Volunteer program; recruitment and training.
  • General operations assistance.
  • Marking assistance.
  • Grant assistance.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):
  • Knowledge in developing and implementing educational programs
  • Knowledge of Arizona and US History
  • Knowledge in current Museum Best Practice Standards
  • Skills in the use of various office equipment and point of sales systems
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to function in a team oriented, results driven environment
  • Ability to be flexible
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, partnerships and collaborations
Selective Preference(s):
  • Bachelors degree in the humanities; History, Museum Studies or related field. 3-5 years professional experience as museum educator or any other combinations of experience, university classes, volunteer work or teaching experience may be substituted.
