The Arizona State Board for Charter Schools’ (ASBCS) mission is to improve public education in Arizona by sponsoring charter schools that provide quality educational choices for both parents and students.

The Arizona State Board for Charter Schools reviews new and renewal applications and grants charters to qualified applicants across the state. The Board oversees all aspects of the charter schools it authorizes and evaluates charter performance on an ongoing basis including the academic performance of schools operated by charter holders, the operational compliance and financial viability of charter holders and their adherence to the terms and conditions of the charter contract.

Job Summary:

The Board is seeking an Education Program Liaison to be the first point of contact for charter operators and the public, to assist in providing guidance and information to charters, and to provide assistance to the Academic team in supporting and monitoring the academic programs and compliance of charter schools. This position is established to help facilitate communication and support for the charter community and constituents.

Responsibilities will include providing customer service, guidance, support, and, technical assistance to charter school operators and parents, supporting the Academic team in reviewing charter compliance, and other duties related to the Board’s oversight of and support for the schools it sponsors.

The ideal candidate will be detailed oriented, have strong customer service skills and possess a willingness to learn. Individuals who have worked in a school system or charter school and has strong administrative skills are encouraged to apply!

Job Duties:

Constituent Support
-Answering inquiries from and providing information to constituents via telephone, email, and mail.
-Providing technical assistance to charter school operators.
-Support the Academic team in providing assistance to charters by developing communications, scheduling, training sessions and managing information gathering.

Charter Reviews
-Reviewing submitted documentation for the purpose of determining compliance with Board policy, administrative rule, and statute.
-Developing and maintaining relationships with charter operators in order to best evaluate charter requests of the Board.
-Organizing and tracking submitted charter documentation and assisting the Academic team with processing.

Special Projects and Administrative Support
-Preparing materials for presentations to the Board and other stakeholders in areas of assignment.
-Providing proactive and organized administrative support such as planning and implementation processes and assist in scheduling and facilitating informational sessions and support for constituents.
-Actively work on projects with the goal of providing support for the charter community as necessary.

Position location is in downtown Phoenix. **REMOTE OPTIONS AVAILABLE**This position will be eligible to work remotely 2-3 days per week, dependent on business needs.**

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge of:
-Educational experience or experience working in a classroom or school setting is preferred.
-English Grammar and Business Writing, including proper email etiquette.

Skill in:
-Providing quality customer service
-Analyzing and compiling data, organizing facts, and drawing clear and logical conclusions.
-Organizing tasks and managing projects to ensure timely completion.
-Communicating clearly, concisely, and effectively both in oral and written formats.
-Moderate to high level experience required in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
-Basic use of Google Suite

Ability to:
-Basic use of virtual presentation programs such as Zoom and Google Meet.)
-Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal staff, state and federal officials, school leaders, and members of the public.
-Think critically and problem solve quickly and effectively.
-Conduct research and use analytical processes to identify issues and trends
-Prioritize and execute day to day responsibilities to best respond to the work of the ASBCS
-Work in a team environment
-Be a self-starter who seeks out opportunity to grow and learn new skills

Selective Preference(s):

The preferred candidate will possess a degree, preferably in education, communication, or public policy.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

• Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.)
• Requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment.
