Educational Equity Professional Learning Specialist

Equity, Diversity, and Inclusions (EDI) Unit

Job Summary:

• This position will support the director in meeting the unit’s goals and benchmarks and create and provide resources, guidance, and professional learning in the area of equity
• In-state and out-of-state travel is required for this position.

Job Duties:

• Review data to determine equity gaps impacting students who are most marginalized and underserved, resource development needs, and professional learning for internal and external stakeholders
• Determine, develop, and facilitate professional learning across for the office of EDI
• Assist the Educational Equity Director in conveying the EDI mission and vision to internal and external partners
• Assist the Educational Equity Director in meeting the benchmarks and goals set for the EDI Division
• Support strategic partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to meet short and long-term goals focused on equity, diversity, and inclusion
• Work collaboratively with EDI staff, including Unique Populations and Office of Indian Education focused on educational equitable outcomes for all students
• Support external partners and Local Education Agencies (LEAs) with technical assistance, resources, and professional learning focused on equity education

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge:
• Arizona’s Academic Standards and EL Standards
• Equity focused policies, laws, and regulations for diverse student populations
• Plan for and implementing instructional programs and requirements for diverse student populations
• Teaching or administering programs for diverse learners
• Equity issues in education
• Effective best practices and research of equity in education
• Data disaggregation and decision making
Applicants must have:
• Teaching Certificate and/or Administrator Certificate
• Taught or worked with Diverse Populations
• Supported the administration of an Equity focused program/project
• Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field
Skills:
• Support implementation of large-scale initiatives focused on diverse learner programs
• Professional communication skills, both verbal and written
• Excellent presentation skills, including presenting to large groups in a variety of delivery methods including in-person, virtual and hybrid
• Skilled at disaggregating multiple forms of data to drive decisions and implementation of instructional programs focused on diverse learners
• Technical and report writing
• Intermediate to advanced skill in using Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Abilities:
• Analyze data and propose goals, objectives, and strategies to problem solve
• Communicate clearly and concisely with LEAs, external stakeholders, and agency program staff when conveying ideas, recommendations, and proposals focused on equity, diversity, and inclusion
• Develop, deliver, and facilitate effective professional learning
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Work independently and/or collaboratively in large or small groups as needed

Selective Preference(s):

• Preference will be given to those applicants with a Master’s degree in a field relevant to Diversity and Equity in Education, Social Justice, Curriculum and Instruction or Educational Policy.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

• Position requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver’s license appropriate to the assignment. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver’s license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.).

Retirement:
