The Department of Emergency & Military Affairs (DEMA) is the headquarters for the Arizona National Guard. The Army National Guard is "Always Ready - Always There" providing military forces to accomplish community, State and Federal missions. The Air National Guard maintains excellence with flexible, sustainable, expeditionary and joint interoperable capabilities in all facets of current Federal and State missions. The Division of Emergency Management’s mission is to coordinate emergency services and efforts to governmental agencies to reduce the impact of disaster on person and property. The Division of Administrative Services maintains the business operations of human resources, finance, purchasing/contracting, and legislative activities. Job Summary:

The Electrician is responsible for performing facility electrical maintenance, repair, and minor construction work requiring highly skilled abilities to keep base facilities infrastructure and property functional and safe for the 161 ARW Goldwater ANG base.

Job Duties:

Responsibilities include:
● Perform electrical installation, inspection, and repair to existing facilities infrastructure and facilities equipment. Performs preventative maintenance by inspecting, cleaning, adjusting or replacing motors, generators, batteries, lighting, timers, and other electrical apparatus. Installs electrical wiring, conduit, outlets, fixtures, switches, and circuit boards. Tests electrical apparatus with various meters to detect shorts, worn out or weak components, defective connections. Reads and interprets schematics and manuals to determine standards or procedures to follow in repairing or installing electrical wiring, fixtures. appliances. Performs related work as required. Follows industry standards and electrical code, as well as Air Force Instructions and guidance.
● Performs maintenance of lighting protection (LPS) and grounding systems (static). Test LPS system ground associated with fuel storage, communication systems, antennas, radio grids, aircraft parking apron, building ground (tempest use) and performs bonding of all components in system. Ensures all grounding meets Air Force and manufacturer requirements. Follows Air Force Instructions and guidance on recurring maintenance. Maintains inspection records of grounding system & lightning protection systems as directed.
● Maintain service to electrical equipment and components on base. Performs service on switching stations, exterior area lights, traffic lights, rotating beacons, and assistance areas. Modifies, troubleshoots, test, clean-up site, perform nonrecurring and recurring maintenance, replaces, performs safety patrol, meter readings, adjust, lubricate, inspect, touch-up or spot paint, install, repairs, and perform in-shop repairs to items above. Makes sure electrical equipment is in operational condition and within safety standards. Follows Air Force Instructions and guidance.
● Assist other shops craftsmen with minor repair/construction projects. Operate Equipment: Generators, Backhoe, Sweeper, Dump Truck, Forklift & High Reach Lift.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Desired Qualifications:

Knowledge of:
● Must be thoroughly familiar with all aspects of interior and exterior electrical work.
● Considerable knowledge of electrical work to include interior, exterior, airfield lighting, fire and security alarm controls.
● Knowledge of complex electrical work.

Skilled in:
● Must be able to operate small computer, various tools and equipment.
● Understanding and carrying out oral and written directions which involve policy and procedural interpretation.
● Possess the abilities to follow directions, to take criticism, and establish and maintain interpersonal relationships with coworkers, vendors and customer.

Ability to:
● Ability to perform electrical maintenance, repair, and minor construction without immediate supervision.
● Perform skilled duties in a specialized trade or as a member of a professional multi-skilled crew.
● Ability to write and effectively communicate orally.
● Ability to maintain accurate files and records.
● Must have valid driver license.
● Ability to work with minimal supervision.
● Ability to work with others on various projects according to guidelines.

Selective Preference(s):

Desired qualifications include any combination of experience, education, and training that meets the knowledge, skills, and abilities as described. Preferred is one (1) year Electrical Journeyman Level Experience or four years of full-time experience in a specialty appropriate to the assignment.

● Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid State of Arizona driver’s license. Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.)
● In-State travel is required.
● Individual is required to pass a criminal background investigation.
● Requires the ability to achieve a favorable National Agency Check for the purpose of obtaining a Common Access Card (CAC).
