Job Summary:

As an Environmental Engineering Specialist, you will research, design, plan, or perform engineering duties in the support of revisions to Arizona’s State Implementation Plan under the Federal Clean Air Act. Work may include:
1) Conduct photochemical modeling (CAMx preferred), and run associated models, including WRF, MOVES, and SMOKE;
2) Calculate emission inventories from natural and anthropogenic sources, using EPA-approvable methodologies;
3) Conduct statistical analyses, literature reviews, and research to better understand the nature and cause of air quality problems in the State;
4) Develop associated documents for the tasks above, including modeling protocols and technical support documents, emission inventory preparation plans and technical support documents, and reports and presentations of research. 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

• Ability to understand and interpret environmental rules and statutes; balance, prioritize and organize multiple tasks and complete assignments by applicable deadlines; synthesize feedback and adjust plans accordingly; develop and write technical documentation; and to summarize completed tasks and recommendations to senior staff through reports.
• Knowledge of State and Federal environmental regulations, environmental engineering and technology principles and practices, chemical composition, structure and properties of substances and of the chemical processes and transformations they undergo in the environment, Agency policies and processes.

Selective Preference(s):

• Bachelor’s degree in environmental/chemical engineering, atmospheric chemistry/science, meteorology or environmental science
• Requires 2 years’ experience (Masters’ or Doctorate degree can substitute for 2 years of experience)
