We are seeking a talented and engaged intern who wants to develop beyond the classroom. In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing annual air emission inventory reports submitted to the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality by industrial facilities holding air quality permits.
This position is available for remote work on a full-time basis within Arizona (including virtual office arrangements).

Intern Project/ Outcome Expected from the Intern:
• Checking emissions calculations for accuracy
• Reviewing supporting information (published emission factors or test data) to ensure correct emission factors are used
• Evaluating assumptions and estimation methodology
• Communicating with the inventory preparer if any additional information is needed
• Assisting with air quality modeling or other air quality technical projects.
You will bring the following to the internship:
• Ability to research and review scientific reports and analyze data,
• Math skills in statistics, algebra, and calculus,
• Strong customer service and communication skills,
• Educational background in environmental science or engineering,
• Experience with technical writing and problem solving,
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and
• Ability to work in a team environment.
You will gain the following from this internship:

• Quality assurance/quality control systems and procedures, and
• Introduction to air quality modeling.
Compensation is $16.50 per hour for undergraduates and between $20-22 per hour for graduate students.
It is up to the discretion of the respective school to provide academic credit.
The internship will begin in Summer 2024. Hours can be adjusted to accommodate class schedules, up to 40 hours per week.
• Intern candidate must be in their Junior or Senior year of a BS/BA or working towards a Masters/PhD program.
• Selective preference will be given to students in atmospheric chemistry or science, chemical engineering, environmental engineering, meteorology, environmental science, mathematics, or environmental policy
• Candidate must have a GPA of 3.0 or better.
• Candidate must have the right to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship.
• Candidate must be at least 18 years old.
