Job Summary:

As an Environmental Technician, this position performs field inspections to monitor emission testing of the state’s
centralized test station’s equipment, inspectors and fleet program. We will rely on you to monitor and instruct state station
and fleet program personnel on compliance when performing emission testing on light duty, heavy duty, and diesel vehicles.

This position may be available for remote work within Arizona (3 days per week in the office/hoteling).

Job Duties:
  • Works approximately 50% in the field conducting hands-on inspections with our commercial/government fleet
    program, and our centralized vehicle emission testing stations within Pima County.
  • Conduct field audits on new/existing fleet inspectors, verifying calibration of gas analyzers & diesel opacity equipment,
    completion of all required service logs, field sheets and documentation in accordance with Standard Operating
    Procedures (SOPs), Quality Assurance Program Plan (QAPP) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requirements.
    Conduct daily updates to the internal fleet databases, call and schedule fleet and state station inspections, update visual
    tracking flow board, and update ADEQ SOP’s.
  • Data verification of equipment, inspectors, and site audit reports to determine compliance by the
    commercial/government fleet end user.
  • Documentation and completion of: electronic field sheets, site logs, instrument logs, vehicle logs, and travel logs
    Ability to respond to customer inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):
  • Proficient skills in leveraging technology such as a laptop, cell phone, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google
    products in order to create work efficiencies.
  •  Ability to respond to customer inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ability to perform or lead projects and problem-solving activities under direction of a unit lead or manager.
Selective Preference(s):
  • An Associate’s degree plus 0-3 years of experience for level 1 or Bachelor’s degree or higher with no prior
    experience
  • A degree in automotive technology, (ASE certification) or mechanical engineering
  • A Driver's license - Possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver's license is required
  • The ability to operate, maintain and calibrate environmental monitoring equipment at an advanced level; collect
    representative environmental samples according to standard operating procedures; follow guidance documents.
