This position serves as a journey-level epidemiologist responsible for carrying out a range of investigative and analytical epidemiologic activities related to the surveillance, detection, and prevention of diseases and injuries. Works as a team or project member, under the direction of a senior epidemiologist or epidemiology program manager, conducting epidemiologic functions comprising surveillance, data collection, data analysis using epidemiologic methods, and assistance with epidemiologic investigations. Conducts epidemiologic investigations used in preventing and controlling specific communicable and chronic diseases, injuries, and other health conditions and applies findings to direct public health programs and recommend interventions and/or control measures. Develops and provides scientific and clinical advice and technical assistance to various public, private, and nonprofit health and health-related state and local agencies and organizations. May also serve as a scientific consultant for a public health program or project. Conducts literature reviews and assists in preparing reports from analyses of surveillance data, literature reviews, and other information using behavioral science, demographic and epidemiologic analytic techniques, and evaluation. Participates in after-hours activities including partner meetings, investigation, outbreak, and emergency response as needed. Participates in writing grants and other funding proposals. May provide administrative leadership and technical guidance to lower-level professional, technical, and administrative support staff, as assigned. The employee will be expected to make independent decisions and judgments based on their professional education, programmatic experience, and training; this position maintains and shares information and data of a very confidential nature. This Epi will work in the office of Environmental Health under the CDC grants of Environmental Public Health Tracking and Environmental Health Capacities.
- Participates in conducting outbreak and other epidemiologic investigations by assisting with the onsite review of facilities and procedures; interviewing patients, health care providers, and others involved; and assisting in collecting data from local agencies or other health entities. Participates in developing epidemiologic investigations.
- Uses databases for analysis of health problems. Uses surveillance systems to collect disease or health outcome data.

- Bachelors in public health or a science-related field and 3 years of exp. in applied public health epidemiology. Masters of public health in Epidemiology may substitute for 2 years of exp. The ideal candidate will have exp. using statistical software, working with the different levels of the US health care system and public health system, and working with electronic public health surveillance databases.
